The Back Paddock is a New Year’s resolution of mine. I’ve been trying to find the right opportunity to roll it out but it never seemed to surface, until now.
So what is it?
The Back Paddock is the Moowsletter equivalent of a back page. It won’t be a sports section as such, although you will often read about a lot of good sports (people).
The purpose of The Back Paddock is to share bits and pieces I come across during the course of a week which I believe are worth sharing but are not befitting of the Moowsletter proper.
In farming terms it would be like running your ‘dry’ cows with the ‘milkers’. They might be beautiful to look at but they still need to be separated.
What the…?
The Back Paddock will be a short piece tacked onto the end of every Moowsletter. The topics will be various with no particular theme running through them, other than interesting.
The odd one or two may be laced with a streak of weirdness but something tells me subscribers don’t mind a bit of weirdness from time to time.
If nothing else, The Back Paddock will provide good chewing gum for the mind.
In a few weeks I might even share the verdict on a little experiment I am doing at the moment. It involves running backwards up a few hills around Balmain. I’m serious. You can laugh all you like (a few locals have) but I reckon I might be on to something. You’ll hear it here first.
And when you’re friends ask where you get such great information, you can say…”The Back Paddock”! In fact, don’t be surprised if you become a ‘friend magnet’ every Thursday afternoon.
So here is my first edition of The Back Paddock. You are most welcome to share it with family and friends.
The Back Paddock
Sunday week ago I caught up for lunch with my old chaplain from school, Reverend Ericksson. An all-round good guy and a great man to have a chat with. I asked him what his sermon was about that morning and he gave me a quick run-down on the difference between grief and grace and Noah’s Ark.
He also shared these two bits with his congregation which I thought were pretty amazing:
• Did you know that if facebook was a nation it would be the world’s 3rd largest country? And,
• There are more mobile phones on the planet than tooth brushes?
Bit of a spin-out isn’t it.
Wouldn’t Noah get a surprise if he came back. Imagine how many likes his facebook page would get!
Have a great week!
Adam
p.s. next week’s Moowsletter is a must read. It’s titled ‘Walking Alone’ and I highly recommend it, especially any single Mum’s (of all ages). The Back Paddock is quite special too and will give you plenty to think about long after you’ve finished reading.
In the past 12 months, CBA’s share price has climbed from $127 to $191 — a 50% gain. Impressive, right? And you’re probably thinking… “I should’ve bought some.” Not so fast, tiger. According to Morningstar — one of Australia’s most respected research houses — CBA’s fair value is closer to $90. That suggests it’s trading …
